So this week was a lot of homework! A couple of papers were due and so that's what was worked on for the majority of the week. I had a really wonky sleep schedule this week and so by Friday, I was exhausted.
On Friday, we left the island and headed to... VANCOUVER! I love Vancouver. I'm such a city girl. I can live in the suburbs or whatever. I just like to be in close-ish proximity to the city. =)
So anyways... we went to Vancouver for a thing called Missions Fest. Basically, speakers come from all over to do sessions and there are booths set up for many different missions organizations. It's a great place to get a scope for what's out there in the missions field. I realized more and more that I really want to do missions in my life and I really would love to go to Ethiopia for this. I'm not sure how that will happen or if it will, but I know that my heart is there right now. So please be in prayer for that.
This coming week is theology and I'm really excited for what I'll learn!

whoa.
It feels weird to not have posted for two weeks! I blame it on Mount Washington.
But before that was a great weekend! I got to go to my youth leader's wedding which was so beautiful. I loved how everything was so centered on the Lord and you could tell that they love the Lord so much and that their relationship is built on Him as a solid foundation. What a great thing to see! And of course, there was much dancing which was AWESOME! As well, I got to go home and see friends which was quite wonderful. =) However, I accidentally forgot my antibiotics on the island which meant that I couldn't get better in time for Mount Washington.
What a week last week was. Our group went up to Mount Washington for a Ski/Snowboard trip which promised to be a lot of fun except that I couldn't move without pain! That part sucked! So I didn't get to learn to snowboard or anything, but spent most of my time in the chalet. It was a beautiful chalet so that wasn't a bad thing but I really wanted to be out with everyone on the mountain. What I did get to experience, however, is the amazing chapels that we had together. I just love chapels. They're generally a great time of learning and sharing.
So yeah, last week was a time of great rest. I didn't get any homework done, though, so this week is a scramble to get it all done before... MISSIONS FEST!

what a week.
This past week has been really interesting. I've been in a lot of pain, but I've had so much joy through it all. Like I haven't been super down about it, although it does sort of suck that I may not be able to snowboard on Mount Washington.
Good has come out of this week though! I took a Theology of Missions course which got me super fired up for missions and reinstilled a desire to do a Global Studies degree at Briercrest. I've been praying for a while for the Lord to show me His will for next year, and I think that I've come to the conclusion (through much wise counsel) that I need to take a step of faith. As Tim Stabell (last week's prof) said, "It's hard to steer a ship that's not moving." So true. So I'm gonna get moving.
Coming up for me: ARGENTINA!
Part of the Kaleo program is a missions trip that each student has an opportunity to go on. We were given a choice of three different places: Argentina, India, or Vancouver/Vancouver Island. I felt led to apply for the Argentina trip and was put on that team. So I am headed to Buenos Aires, Argentina in South America in March!

This is very exciting for me because I have loved Spanish since I was younger and I took four years of high school Spanish. I have also always wanted to go to South America and I will now have the chance, doing something that I love: missions. This missions trip also incorporates another passion of mine which is camp ministry. I have been involved in camp since I was a little girl and to be able to continue to do that in a different country is such a blessing.
Our team will be going to Buenos Aires, Argentina to work with camp workers with the Youth for Christ ministry. We will be connecting with local and Latino ministries that are focused on youth evangelism. Some of the things we will do are: run a weekend retreat for “third culture kids,” kids who are not Argentine by birth but have parents working in Argentina; and be a part of a youth workers conference, to share the way we do youth ministry, as well as learn how they do it. We are going to come alongside those God has already put in leadership in Argentina and help them in their ministry where God provides opportunity.
As with most missions trips, I have to raise some support. The total amount I need to raise is $1750 for the entire trip. This needs to be raised by February 15th, 2011. We will also need much prayer support as we travel and spend time in a foreign country. If you could help in whatever way, I would really appreciate it! hello, second semester!
Well, it's here! I'm back at Kaleo. It kind of hasn't sunk in yet, and to be honest, I was really wanting to stay home. Such a change from most of the break when I wanted to be back here with everyone, but I was just settling in again at home and then I had to leave. But it's good. I know that I need to be here. We're told that this semester will go faster than the first and the first went pretty quick so this should be quite a ride!
I'm excited to see what God will do with us this semester. We have a different group now. Four people left, so it's a different dynamic, but not a bad one. I think that this semester will really unify us as a group. I love these people and it's good to be back with them, but I miss home.
We're now doing a course called Theology of Mission. I have always wanted to do missions and now I'm just more pumped for it! Our prof worked in the Congo and I saw pictures and it made me want to go to Africa, but Ethiopia for me :)

guess I might as well keep posting...
Funny, I wasn't going to post through Christmas break, yet here I am doing my second post of the break!
Christmas was great! It was super chill, low-key, wonderful. I got to spend some time with family that I hadn't seen in a while as well as getting an email from someone that I didn't expect an email from. So good.
I'm super stoked at the moment because a friend that I did CIT with, Jess, is visiting Canada from New Zealand and is staying at my house for a bit =) It's been really cool so far to catch up with her and stuff!
I must admit: I'm super stoked for Kaleo to start again.

i know i said i was peacing it...
Hello!
Oh man, it's Christmas Eve! Merry Christmas, everyone!
This break has been going well! I have gotten the chance to surprise 3 different people since I've been home and it was so fun! (Completely unrelated, but I have finished every sentence with an exclamation mark up til this point. Oi.) I love surprising people. It's one of the best parts of coming home after being away for school.
I discovered when I got home that things were not as they were when I left. Some are good changes, some not so good. Friends going through hard times, some hurts with other friends (but thank the Lord for healing!), and some wonderful things for other friends. Yet, God has His hand on it all.
I just wanted to thank everyone who reads this for your prayers! I really appreciate them!

last days.
So today is the last full day for this semester and it has been wonderful.
It was Kaleo Christmas this morning so each of us got a name and we did a Secret Santa dealio. It was really cool seeing what everybody got for each other and the thought that was put into (most of) the gifts. For the most part, people tried to match the personalities that they were buying for. I got a gift card from Starbucks! I really enjoyed giving the gift that I'd gotten for my Secret Santa. I was so excited for him to get it!
I am looking forward to this break, but I'm also really nervous about it. God has done some good things in me this week. I have realized that I am the one that Jesus loves and for the first time ever, that is enough for me. I don't know why I'm nervous to go home, but I hope that these things that I've learned will stay with me when I'm at home and I will come back here refreshed and rejuvenated.
I'm stoked to see my mom and all my friends!
